The Dragonflight

Lex NaktAari

unity - wisdom - perseverence

The nigh-dormant Dragonflight of Lex Naktaari has fallen into the annals of history, believed by most to be entirely undone. The mountains and tall, warm hills towering near Draconeum stand silent and lifeless, devoid of any draconic life and activity beyond the faint features and memories of the revered Great Copper Wyrm which once lived there.

Revered as gods by Draconeum, Dragons which make the journey to their lands are treated in kind.
However, this veneration unique to dragons is the product of the legacy of Arrchus, the legendary copper dragon and his favoured and entrusted kindred; The dragonflight once known as the Lex Naktaari.

Entering a new age, all dragons in the land come to hold some connection to the old dragonflight of Lex Naktaari whether they like it or not simply for being what they are and all denizens of the peninsula upon where Draconeum is situated watches with a scrutinizing eye how dragons develop and settle into the region. Dragons who bring about destruction and terrorize the people of the land find themselves with few safe grounds.

Many of the elven communities across the land quickly respond with violent persecution of confirmed malevolent dragons, hunting them down or forcibly drive them out of the peninsula by forbidding them to find anywhere to rest without coming under attack. While Draconeum itself does not resort to such, to them, unholy activities, senselessly harmful and cruel gods who have no reason for their ire soon find themselves defied and de-sanctified or worse yet, targeted by a group of other dragons intent on defending their own status of godhood before the Draconean populace.

If dragons are to have any future, their best hope may be to join with and reinstate the ways of the Lex Naktaari who came before them and usher in a new dawn of prosperity and unity for the dragonflight, in honour of its founder and ancestor; Arrchus.

The structure of society inherited from the Lex Naktaari are relatively simple.

At the very top sits the
Council of the Word/Biwheg di wer Lex, they were originally elected by mandate and personal trust from Arrchus himself, but as of today the wisest, strongest and brightest of draconic minds following the Word of the founding father are elected to these seats of power and responsibility by recommendation once a year. No single dragon holds supreme authority over the entirety of Lex Naktaari, but the Overseer of the council is responsible for keeping all members of the Council under the premise of unity as their duty.

The
Warrior/Arytissi caste were dragons tasked with protecting their fellow dragons, the lair and its subjects in times of danger and strife. They form the bulk of Lex Naktaari's military force.

Harbouring the immense knowledge and records of dragonkind safeguarded over the ages, the
Magician/Arcanissari caste have sharpened minds and are masters of magic gained from their vast pools of wisdom and lore. While they mostly concern themselves with chronicling the world around them, conducting research and hoarding knowledge of all kinds, they support the flight with their magical aptitude. Historically, they were entrusted with deeming magical suitability in the Draconean populace and were allowed to elevate two individuals each, four times a year to be given the honour of becoming priests.

Supporting and maintaining the health and well-being of the flight is the duty of the
Healer/Irisvari caste. These dragons specialised in learning the anatomy of their fellow dragon's bodies, which substances, plants and forms of treatment provided the best recovery for each kind of dragon. Some were devout or relied on magical means of healing, while others focused solely on physical methods of treatment.

Some dragons kept non-dragon
Servants/Katimai as company, though slavery was frowned upon within the Lex Naktaari they were not opposed to having a single servant either subjugated into servitude or willingly accompanying the dragon as a trusted friend or assistant.

Dragons of the Lex Naktaari had very few reservations for expressing their individual pride in their names. Dragons of the flight often held three means of identification:

First, their spoken name; Whether given at birth by a parent or chosen at the dragon's own leisure.

Second, a name of recognition; This was often self-proclaimed qualities or virtues strung together into a sometimes cryptic interpretation, such as 'Gracirflam", expressing the dragon as graceful and a master in the air, tempered with a fiery temper one would be wise not to cross or tempt.

Third and last, a title of duty or allegiance. Within the flight, this simply was adressed as "Di wer Irisvari", for a healer or "Di wer Arytissi" for a warrior. When making formal introductions to outsiders, this title was adjusted so that a magician would say "Arcanissari di wer Lex Naktaari" to clarify the flight to which they were sworn.
